What CaptiFi Connect does
Businesses use it to text their customers. From the dashboard you can text one person or a few numbers you paste in, or run a campaign to a whole list, now or at a time you pick. Replies come back into an inbox, one thread per number, and you answer from there. Campaigns add an opt-out line for you, and anyone who texts STOP goes straight onto your opt-out list.
Keywords reply for you and fill your lists, every link can be a short tracked one, and anything that sends an email can send a text. Colleagues get their own logins with a role each. Developers get the same things through a REST API, with test keys that cost nothing and signed webhooks for deliveries, replies, opt-outs and clicks. The developer overview has the detail.
What it doesn't do
CaptiFi Connect sends SMS to UK mobiles and nothing else. It doesn't offer:
- Texts to numbers outside the UK, Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man
- Picture messages (MMS), WhatsApp, RCS and voice calls
- Short codes
- Ready-made connectors for named apps: everything connects through the API, webhooks, email to SMS and CSV
- Phone or live-chat support, and certifications such as ISO 27001 or Cyber Essentials
What it does do is on the product page, and how it protects your data is on the security page.
How texts reach phones
One-to-one texts go from a UK mobile number, so a reply comes straight back to the same conversation. Campaigns, and anything sent from a business name, go through a licensed business messaging route (A2P) that's built for volume and reports delivery back to us. A credit costs the same either way.
How we check accounts and sender names
Every new account is checked by a person before it can send a single text. While that happens you can import contacts, write templates and build against the API with a test key, so nobody is left waiting around.
Sender names (the business name that shows instead of a number) are reviewed too. We check each one against the MEF SenderID Protection Registry and turn down names that imitate another brand or a public body. It protects the people you text, and makes it harder for anyone else to send under your name.
CaptiFi and CaptiFi Connect
CaptiFi helps UK pubs, restaurants, hotels and venues collect guest details through their WiFi and market to them afterwards. CaptiFi Connect is a separate product with its own accounts, open to any UK business that wants to text its customers, whether or not it uses CaptiFi.
