What is SMS credit?
An SMS credit is a prepaid unit used to pay for texts; with CaptiFi Connect, one credit sends one SMS part to a UK mobile.
Plenty of UK texting services sell texts as prepaid credits. You top up, and the balance goes down as you send. How far a credit goes depends on the provider, so check whether it pays for a whole message or a single part.
A 200-character appointment reminder is two parts, so sending it to 100 patients uses 200 credits.
In CaptiFi Connect one credit is one SMS part to a UK mobile, and Unicode texts follow the same rule (their parts are just shorter). Texts you receive are free. Texts refused before sending, for example to an opted-out number or a landline, are never charged; texts that fail before they leave are refunded, and cancelling a scheduled text gives its credit back. Test keys cost nothing. Packs start at £25 for 500 credits (5p a text) and fall to 3.5p on the biggest pack, plus VAT; the pricing page has the table.
