What is A2P SMS?
A2P SMS (application to person) is any text sent by a business system to a person, such as a reminder, a one-time code or a marketing message.
The mobile industry uses the term to separate business traffic from texts between people (P2P). A2P texts normally travel through an SMS aggregator with direct connections to the networks, they can carry a sender name, and delivery receipts come back from the network. Network terms for ordinary SIM cards typically rule out bulk or automated sending, so business volume is expected to take an A2P route.
When a Birmingham optician's booking system texts 'Your eye test is tomorrow at 10:15' to two hundred patients each evening, that's A2P traffic.
CaptiFi Connect sends campaigns and anything from a sender name through a licensed A2P aggregator. One-to-one conversations go from a UK mobile number so replies come back to the same thread. You don't choose a route for each text, and a credit costs the same whichever way it goes.
